5 Incredible Maternity Things That Didn’t Exist When I Had Babies

Can you believe the range of awesome Maternity products available these days for mums to be, new mums and trendy babies?

Nine years ago, when I gave birth to my delightful first born son, I led the pack with my on-trend Baby Bjorn carrier – the only baby carrier available in those days. But boy would I be left for dust these days, not only has the range of baby carriers expanded astronomically, but maternity wear is far, far more attractive.

Some of them are so amazing or incredible, it is *almost* enough to make me want to add to our family. There are some things that can make your life a whole lot easier while you’re getting used to this new parenting gig for eating, sleeping, playing, and getting around. Some are must-haves, some are nice-to-haves, some may seem excessive but if there’s something available that could possibly make your life easier, you’d want me to tell you about it – wouldn’t you?

Here are 5 Incredible Maternity Things That Didn’t Exist When I Had Babies:

Maternity Rafts

You read that correctly! Imagine a pool lilo with a cut out for you belly. The ultimate pool accessory for a summer pregnancy! Mamas-to-be can rest on their stomachs “” either in a pool or on top of a mattress “” without harming their babies.

Seamless Maternity & Nursing Bra5 Incredible Maternity Things That Didn't Exist When I Had Babies | Stay at Home Mum

Maternity bras. One of my pet hates. They were so pinchey and uncomfortable. But these babies by Mamaway are so comfortable it feels like you’re wearing nothing. You can see why they have sold millions world wide. With their easy sizing, and amazing structural support without wires – these award winning bras stretch up to 3 cups to accommodate your changing breasts before and after a feed, and throughout the period you are breastfeeding for with feeding clips that click into place easily.

Attractive Maternity Jeans

Even the flashiest brand of jeans these days has a maternity line. No more ‘expanding belts’ which basically left you wearing your normal jeans – undone, trendy jeans in all shapes, cuts and sizes. So good, you may never go back to normal ones ever again.

Nano Bamboo Postnatal Recovery & Support Belly Band5 Incredible Maternity Things That Didn't Exist When I Had Babies | Stay at Home Mum

These fully adjustable bands go around your belly and support and accelerate your body’s recovery post-birth, especially if you have a caesarean. Made of nano bamboo fibre that is strong, light and breathable to enable easy, natural movements, so you can wear it for longer during the day and even wear it to sleep. The durable construction maintains its shape wash after wash. And come with two extra support belts to reinforce key recovery areas and gives you an immediate waist line! One belt fits up to 5 dress sizes.
Perineum Massage Oil
Used to prevent the need for an episiotomy and to reduce tearing, the idea is to begin massaging in the oil in the weeks before the due date. Though spray oil is not recommended, many midwives suggest using olive oil for the same result.
Throughout pregnancy, expectant mums are bombarded with advice for products that will make them comfortable and provide their babies with the best possible start. Some, most mums-to-be probably didn’t even know existed before becoming pregnant themselves (looking at you; perineum massage oil).

What was your surprise maternity life saving product?
