10. Fresh Prince of Bel-Air

Not everyone was a fan of the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, which ran from 1990 to 1996. It was an off-beat comedy with a hip-hop flair, and nowhere is that more obvious than in its theme song. The lyrics are catchy, creative, and funny, an intro to what viewers will find in the show. The song was so popular, it actually had a run on the charts back in the day.

Not everyone is going to remember these ones, but although they’re old they’re no less impressive.

8. Mr Ed

A TV show about a horse that talks doesn’t exactly seem like viewer-friendly materials. But remember this is back in the day of black and white TV (1958 – 1996) and it really took off. The only thing that never ceases to surprise is how much that horse’s mouth moves, and how many rhymes they find for the word ‘horse’ in the Mr. Ed theme song!

7. The Brady Bunch

If you don’t know the theme song for The Brady Bunch, we’ll have to assume you’ve never lived, or been properly entertained. Running from 1969 to 1974, the classic oldie The Brady Bunch was the beginning of entertainment’s acceptance of the blended family. And we like to think that it was helped along by this catchy theme song.

After the dramatic narration, The A-Team theme song gets hearts racing right from the word go. Listening to this music, which was redone for the movie remake of this classic TV show, it’s clear that action is on the cards here. No words are required to get viewers excited for the next adventure of The A-Team, which ran from 1983 to 1987.

Almost as iconic as Fred Flinstone’s catchphrase “Yabba dabba doo!” is The Flinstones’ iconic theme song. The show, which ran from 1960 to 1966, was full of timeless entertainment, that made it a staple many years after production ceased. The theme song offers up a few great lines, like a “modern stoneage family”, and a whole lots of laughs.

It might have started somewhere else, but the classic Playschool theme song was in fact composed by an Aussie! Although the theme has gone through a few changes since its inception, it remains true to the original lyrics. With a sense of childish whimsy and wonder, the lyrics perfectly sum up the hours of entertainment we got from Playschool, and all the hours yet to be had.

A classic Australian children’s show, Round The Twist had a lot of memorable things going for it. It stopped and started between 1989 and 2001 with four series in total. But, although the characters might have changed, the catchy theme song did not. Sure, there are some odd digital music choices going on here, but it’s classically Australian and guaranteed to get stuck in your head!

This joyous theme song, which has changed a little over the years, still has the same happy lyrics, and the same ideas. For many kids, Sesame Street really was the place where air was sweet, so let’s go for a ride there!
