Cassie Olczak Found Alive After Disappearing for Five Days

Almost five days after she disappeared, 16-year-old Cassie Olczak has been found alive on the side of a highway – on her own.

Cassie was spotted by a passing motorist on the Princes Highway at Waterfall, south of Sydney, about 9am today.

A police spokeswoman has confirmed that the teen, who went missing since she boarded a train at Banskia, in Sydney’s south, about 7pm on Sunday evening, was ‘safe and well’.

Her mother, Connie, had confirmed Cassie was believed to have been on a ‘substance’ when she disappeared. She said that her daughter sent ‘very emotional’ emails before coming home from Abu Dhabi, where her father lives, on Saturday. “The day before she came home she did put some very emotional emails because we laughed (and said) ‘oh my god look at Cassie she’s actually displaying affection’,” she told KIIS FM on Thursday.

Connie said that Cassie was the same as someone with ‘minor autistic traits where they’re not super cuddly… But she has a heart of gold’, but she pointed out that she didn’t mean that remark in a ‘negative’ way.

Cassie was last seen by a friend who was ‘attacked’ by Connie on Facebook this week. “Sadly Cassie made poor choice in friends! Let’s pray doesn’t cost her life !!!!” she said.

The friend claimed Cassie was ‘not happy (where) she was’. “Everyone could see this… ‘event’ was not (unexpected). But no please continue to attack me because that will surely help (you) find your daughter,” the friend said.

However, Connie told Daily Mail Australia that “(Cassie) had a disagreement with a friend before she left and the friend has told police that”.

When asked about reports she may have been upset over a boy, Connie said: ‘I can’t discuss that’.

Connie said that the friend was with Cassie at Banksia about 6.30pm but caught a different train.

Cassie was expected to be going to Hurstville but security camera footage captured her getting off Waterfall railway station – about 25 kilometres away.

Police believe she may have been groggy and disoriented.

Cassie had just finished school and is due to begin a TAFE hairdressing course next week.

She went to visit friends on Sunday but they sent her home when they noticed she was disorientated.
