Mum Gives Birth on the Side of the Road

A pregnant mum was forced to give birth on the side of the road after she was held up by traffic on her way to hospital.

The Adelaide Advertiser reported that dad Stephen Curran was trying desperately to get his fiance, Bianca Grant, from South Australia, to the Women’s and Children’s Hospital in Adelaide on the morning of May 12 when peak-hour traffic gave him a difficult choice.

He said that his fiance was telling him to go round the cars, but the ambulance crew on the phone told him to stay put. However, he said that he had just to deal with it by giving up getting to the hospital and pulled over to help his wife deliver the baby.

Thankfully, the ambulance arrived at around half an hour later, and helped Mr Curran deliver the baby.

Mr Curran tried to put sheets over the car’s windows as the mother-of-two had her feet on the dashboard when a bus pulled up next to them. He said he wanted to give his fiance as much privacy as he could in the very public location.

“The last thing I wanted was to end up on YouTube from someone taking a video,” Ms Grant said.

After a few moments, Ms Grant gave birth to her baby daughter, Danica without any medical complications.

Ms Grant and her baby were then taken to hospital were they were declared to be fit and healthy and were released later that day.
