Mum’s Photo of Her Child’s Diaper Blowout Goes Viral

A mum who shared a photo of her child’s diaper blowout has been praised by other parents for telling the realities of parenthood.

Esther Anderson, 31, from Rochester, New York, posted on her blog on Facebook, the Story of This Life, a photo of her carrying her two-month-old daughter, Ellia, with a huge brown stain on the back of her nappy and on her shorts.

She wrote alongside the picture: “Second blow out of the day, and let me tell you…this one wasn’t nearly as bad as this morning’s. Let’s just say Ellia might go back into her pull-ups for tonight”

She added: ‘This was that “aw man I don’t even know where to start to clean her” moment’.

Esther said she shared the picture because it was ‘just another day’ in their life. She told Daily Mail Online blowouts, which other parents call a ‘poonami’, happen and every parent can relate to her.

“Some things really resonate with other parents, apparently blowouts are one of them. Every parent’s experienced the joys of a blowout at some point in their life…It’s real life,” she said.

Esther, who also has a three-month-old daughter, Tessa, then fires back at perfectly pose pictures of parenthood.

“Parenting: raising tiny humans and not pretending like you have it all figured out’ so they try to show their experiences from every angle. Our culture in this day and age tends to portray parenting as this sweet, functional, seamless operation, when in reality there’s a lot of mess involved that no one likes to share in the fear that it’ll make them look like bad parents,” she said.

She said that she and her husband, Thad, 32, decided to be transparent and real, showing both the tremendous joys and the fun ‘blowouts’ of parenting.
