Seven-Year-Old Girl Heroically Pulls Her Siblings to Safety After Car Crash

A seven-year-old girl was hailed a hero for pulling free her two younger siblings who were trapped inside the car they were riding after a horrific car crash in regional Queensland.

The three girls were passengers in their mother’s car when it crashed on the side of the road west of Kilcoy, in regional Queensland about 7.45am on Tuesday morning.

The car was believed to have veered off the road in wet conditions when it left Gregors Creek Road before it flipped and landed on its roof, leaving the mother who was driving the car trapped in the vehicle.

LifeFlight Critical Care Doctor Matthew Mulkeen told The Courier Mail that the girl had managed to escape from the wreckage before crawling back in to rescue her two-year-old and three-year-old siblings. She then managed to unbuckle her younger siblings and help them out. By the time emergency crews arrived, all three children were out of the vehicle. They were not injured in the crash because they were strapped into their seats.

Their 28-year-old mother, who was left trapped inside the vehicle, needed to be cut out of her seat by emergency services before she was airlifted to Nambour Hospital. She suffered suspected chest and arm injuries and possible spinal injuries, but her injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

The children were also taken to Nambour Hospital by ambulance to be further assessed.

It is yet unclear what caused the crash with the car sliding off the wet road as investigations into the crash are ongoing.
