Toddler Scared of Finding Dory Rescued After Falling Into Sydney Harbour

A two-year-old boy has been rescued when he fell into Sydney Harbour after leaving a cinema because he was afraid to watch Finding Dory.

Mum Jing-Wah Zhao took her family to watch the animated children’s film, Finding Dory in Sydney on Wednesday, but her two-year-old son, John became afraid of the fish. So she and her son left the cinema and went to wait outside during the remainder of the movie.

However, as his mother packed up her bags, John tumbled into the water at Cockle Bay Wharf, at Darling Harbour, and she instantly jumped in after him – even though she couldn’t swim. She told 7 News that she decided to go after her son when his face was down in the water, ‘totally submerged.’ “Less than one second, he just slipped into the water,” she said.

Thankfully, 7News reported that Tony Driessler, a German backpacker who had been in Australia for less than a week, ‘instinctively’ dived in after the pair. Mr Driessler managed to drag John and Ms Zhao back to the edge of the wharf, where other passerbys assisted in hoisting them to safety.
