No. I try to suggest things to my ex that our teenage daughter likes but he still chooses to buy her things that she isn't interested in or things he likes or is interested in.
She's very polite so never complains but it really just comes across to her that he doesn't want to share her likes and interests because they aren't as important as his

Yeah my ex and fiancé have jobs and can spend tones of money on presents and buy our daughter crap that she plays with for 5 seconds. My partner and I buy meaningful presents that she loves and treasures.
