1. Start Teaching Them Early

Being charitable and giving to others shouldn’t be something that kids should be forced or coerced to do. However, sometimes, to ensure that kids have this charitable awareness, it pays to start early. From the time your kids are little, try and bring a little bit of giving to others into your Christmas celebration, to get them used to the idea. Of course, you can start anytime as well, you’ll be surprised how kids will pick it up.

2. Give All Year Around

While it is really great to give at Christmas, that isn’t the only time that you should be sharing your personal wealth. Giving all year, even just for small things, can really help your child to see that it’s an important part of being a charitable person. We’re talking about a dedication to a cause, a charity, or a volunteer opportunity. That way, your child knows that being a charitable person isn’t just for December.

3. Make It A Family Thing

It’s always wonderful when families get a chance to do things together around the holidays, so why not make giving something that you and your family do? When children see everyone getting involved, it’s much easier for them to catch on to an idea. Not to mention that giving feels good for both the giver and the receiver, and it’s wonderful for families to enjoy that together.
