Here’s a rundown of some of the services in your state:

New South Wales

Residential stay centres

• Karitane which also offers information through its My Baby and Me website, and the Karitane Careline, phone 1300 227 464.
• Tresillian – which also provides the Tresillian Parent’s Help Line on 1300 272 736 and Live Advice.

Additional services

• Parent Line offers counselling and information over the phone. Call 1300 130 052. Online counselling will be available from August 25, 2015.

Australian Capital Territory

Residential stay centre

• Queen Elizabeth II Family Centre managed by the Canberra Mothercraft Society.

Additional services

• ParentLink provides online parenting guides.

Victoria

Residential stay centres

• Mercy Health O’Connell Family Centre which offers some parenting courses.
• QEC.
• Tweddle Child and Family Health Service.

Additional services

• Parentline a phone counselling service, phone 13 22 89.

Queensland

Residential stay centres

• Ellen Barron Family Centre.

Additional services

• Parentline run by BoysTown, Parentline offers over the phone counselling and information (phone 1300 301 300).
• Triple P Parenting Program a parenting course aimed at managing behaviour and raising confident children. The program is currently being offered free to Queensland parents.

Western Australia

Residential stay centres

• Ngala which also offers a range of free workshops, face-to-face or telephone consultations, a telephone helpline (phone 08 9368 9368 or 1800 111 546 for country areas) and online resources.

Additional services

• Parenting WA Coordinators a free service, which doesn’t require a referral and includes one-on-one support as well as parenting programs and workshops.
• Parenting WA Line a 24-hour parenting support and information service. Phone 08 6279 1200 or 1800 654 432.

South Australia

Residential stay centres

• Torrens House.

• Child and Youth Health Network offers online information.
• Parent Helpline provides telephone counselling and information, phone 1300 364 100.

Tasmania

• Parenting Centres these are day stay centres, which provide support and education to parents.
• Parent Line provides over the phone counselling and support, contact 1300 808 178.

Northern Territory

• Parentline based in Queensland and run by BoysTown. Parentline offers over the phone counselling and information (phone 1300 301 300).

Australia-wide

• Baby Steps a free online program, funded by beyondblue and created by the Queensland University of Technology.
• healthdirect Australia call 1800 022 222 for health advice at any time of the night or day.
