10 Things You Probably Shouldn’t Say To Mummas In The Third Trimester

5 min read

8. “Wow You Look Ready To Pop!”

It’s great to hear this when you actually are ready to pop, with your due date just on the horizon. It’s not great to hear this when you still have a month or two before you’re due and you now know that everything sees you as a kind of walking land whale. Avoid this one unless you definitely know that the pregnant lady you’re talking to will be going into labour within a three-day period, for sure.

9. “You Look So Lovely”

When you’re really pregnant, people try and smooth things over with you by saying things like: “Oh you look so lovely”, but the problem is you don’t feel lovely, and it seems like you never will again. You’re dealing with the swollen feet, the pregnancy pimples, the downstairs brush and those damn stretch marks, and the sheer sound of someone complimenting your beauty sends you into a rage. Sorry, but that’s the truth.

10. “Enjoy It, The Time Goes So Fast”

You are absolutely right, time does go fast, but it sure as hell doesn’t seem to be going that fast when you’re in your last trimester and you just want your old body back. There’s no doubt that one day, even the craziest pregnant mummas, with their kids grown up, will look back on these days with the tint of rose coloured glasses, but today, it’s just hard as hell. Full stop!
