You most likely know all the names of the different characters on your children’s favourite television shows. But there are probably some things that you’ve always wondered about. So we’ve lined up some of the most trivial trivia on your children’s favourite television shows. You just never know when this seemingly useless information might come up in conversation.

Peppa Pig

  • There is a theme park dedicated to Peppa Pig (maybe best not to share this gem with the little ones!) The theme park is known as Peppa Pig World and is located in Paultons Park, Hampshire, UK.
  • Just how many jobs does Miss Rabbit have? This is the million dollar question for mums and dads across Australia. Miss Rabbit has “hundreds of jobs” apparently including bus driver, supermarket assistant, librarian, helicopter pilot, fireman, ice cream seller, car crusher and ticket seller. Want to learn more about the different jobs Miss Rabbit holds down there is an entire Facebook Page dedicated to this very thought!

  •  Thomas the tank engine is actually designed on a real toy. The creator Rev Awdry created the stories based on a small train toy that his son Christopher had.
  • While there are several dozens of different engines that have been featured on Thomas since 1984, only 12 of them are featured in every season. These include Edward, Henry, Gordon, James, Percy, Toby, Annie, Clarabel, Henrietta, Bertie, and The Fat Controller.
  • Sir Topham Hatt’s first name is Bertram
  • Sir Topham Hatt has a brother named “Sire Lowham Hatt”

Yo Gabba Gabba

  • Yo Gabba Gabba was created by two dads with no previous experience writing television or with children’s broadcasting. They simply were tired of the rubbish kid’s shows on TV so designed their own.
  • Yo Gabba Gabba features several different characters. Some of them are quite obvious to identify such as Broobee the monster and Plex, the yellow robot. But what about that red pickle looking thing? Apparently that’s a red Cyclops (Muno). And how about that creepy blue furry thing Toodee? She’s a cat-dragon, naturally.
  • There have been several different bands and artists featured on Yo Gabba Gabba including The Tings Tings, The Killers, Enon, The Clientele, Jimmy Eat World, My Chemical Romance, Jack Black, Tony Hawke, Joy Zipper, MGMT and Weezer.

Sesame Street

  • Sesame Street is one of the most famous children’s television programs and has been on the air since 1966.
  • Sesame Street is seen in over 180 countries. Some things have remained the same throughout the history while others have been changed slightly.
  • For example, the left-side door in the front of 123 Sesame Street has never been opened.
  • The Count has been around since the beginning. And, apparently he has been around a lot longer than that! His birthday is 9 October 1,830,653 B.C.
  • How big is Big Bird? 8.2 feet tall.
  • Where’s Kermit? Kermit the Frog was retired in 1990 when the creator of The Muppets, Jim Henson died.
  • Oscar the Grouch was modelled after a grumpy waiter that served the creator and former director in a restaurant called Oscar’s Tavern.
  • Cookie Monster’s real name is Sid. However, this was before he ever tried cookies.
  • Snuffy is one of the larger Muppets on Sesame Street. And he wears a shoe size of 65 GGG.
  • Bird Bird’s teddy bear’s name is Radar.
  • How the heck do you get to Sesame Street? Well, according to IMDB you “Take the “R” or “V” train to Steinway Street. Stay on back of train. Walk west on 34th Avenue, three blocks to 36th Street. Turn left on 36th Street. The entrance to Kaufman Astoria Studios in Queens is mid-block (between 34th & 35th Avenues).”
