Ikea Issues Recall of Patrull Children’s Safety Gates

Ikea has made a recall on its Patrull children’s safety gates due to injury risk.

Swedish furniture retailer Ikea has issued the recall because the locking mechanism of the Patrull children’s safety gates is unreliable and may cause injuries among children.

The company said on Thursday that it has received reports that the gates have opened unexpectedly, causing children to fall down stairs, with medical attention needed in some cases.

Because of this, Ikea, a leading global home furnishings group, is urging customers with any model of Patrull safety gate to immediately stop using them and return them to an Ikea store for a full refund without proof of purchase.

The company highlighted its zero tolerance regarding child safety and that the faulty gates had opened despite “approved tests to applicable standards”.

Ikea has over 300 stores in 27 countries, including Australia.
