Mum Charged After Allegedly Circling Son Before Running Him Over Twice

A mother allegedly circled her seven-year-old son before running him over twice.

It was alleged that the 39-year-old mother circled her son before she struck him twice while he was walking across a reserve on the New South Wales south coast.

The mother, who cannot be identified for legal reasons, mounted the curb and drove into Corrigans Beach Reserve at Batemans Bay at 3pm on Monday, along with her four-year-old daughter in the backseat.

Witnesses told 7 News that they saw a white station wagon circling the boy. Another said that the young boy was trying to run away and then the mother got out of the car and shouted angrily at the boy.

Tyre marks show where the incident took place. The boy was rushed to Batemans Bay Hospital with a suspected fractured collarbone.

The mother was arrested at the scene and was taken to Batemans Bay Police Station where she told police her son allegedly assaulted his sister earlier.

The mother was charged with attempted murder and assault occasioning actual bodily harm, among other charges. She has been refused bail and will undergo a mental health assessment before her next appearance in June

Her children will be placed into the care of relatives.

Meanwhile, the Daily Telegraph reported that police were called on Thursday after the mother left her kids at a gym while she went to the pub and on Sunday, she was seen allegedly grabbing her son roughly by his neck at the pub.
