Mum Thanks Cashier for Letting Her Daughter with Autism Play “Shops”

A cashier has melted hearts worldwide after letting a girl, who’s blind and has autism, play “shops”.

Mum, Amanda Wilkins, couldn’t thank her cashier enough. Ms Wilkins’ daughters, who are legally blind and have autism, began having a meltdown while out grocery shopping. The quick-thinking cashier at the checkout allowed the two girls to ring up each grocery item themselves at the register.

Ms Wilkins posted on Facebook the heartwarming photo of her daughter, Holly, along with the cashier, scanning her milk at the register.

She said that she and her two daughters were shopping at Morrisons in Basingstoke when both her girls decided to have a meltdown. She was surprised when a lady cashier decided to help her daughters instead of judging them. She said that the cashier let one of her daughters, Holly, scan all her groceries, which she said was a dream come true for Holly who loves playing ‘shops’.

“It melts my heart to come across people that are prepared to go the extra mile, and little acts of kindness makes a massive difference to my world,” Ms Wilkins wrote.

She said that she didn’t see the stranger’s name, so she hopes that social media will help her send her thanks to the kind lady cashier.

The post has now more than 540,000 likes and more than 99,000 shares.
