Ok, so I have a food confession to make….I can’t really make the best boiled rice consistently, until I made rice this way & it’s the only way I remember the ingredients and amounts is to count 3,2,1 and it’s as easy as that! This rice will be perfect EVERY time if you follow the recipe to the letter..annoying but true. Come on SAHM fans make perfect rice with me!

Method

  1. Pour water into saucepan add salt and bring to the boil.

  2. Add rice and bring to the boil, now put the lid on, reduce to simmer and cook for 16 minutes (yes 16, I know set your timer people). DO NOT LIFT THE LID, no stirring or checking if it's stuck, nothing stay strong!

  3. After the 16 minutes remove from heat (still no stirring) and place a clean, dry tea towel over the pot and replace the lid for 5 minutes (yep set the timer again).

  4. Now remove the lid and tea towel and stir your rice (yes this is the first time you have stirred your rice) and you will have fluffy, glug free perfect rice!

Recipe Hints and Tips:

  • 3,2,1 Rice should be kept refrigerated at all times for up to 2 days in an airtight container.
  • By placing the tea towel over the rice this absorbs any extra moisture to ensure you do not have gluggy rice.
