Best Ever Butter Buns

These buns will blow your mind and become a staple on burger night! Okay, well, maybe burger weekends when you have a little extra time to make your burger night special.

Don’t try to make this dough by hand though; you need a mixer with a dough hook. It’s quite sticky and needs to be a little sticky to ensure they have a great consistency,

They freeze brilliantly too! So make a big batch the day you do, pop them in a Ziploc bag or container after they’ve cooled down and throw them in the freeze for a month or so.

Method

  1. Combine water, milk, yeast, sugar and 1 egg in the bowl of a mixer, once combine let it sit for a few minutes so the yeast goes frothy.

  2. Add the flour and mix until just combined

  3. Add the salt and butter and knead on medium speed for about 10 mins.

  4. Place in an oiled bowl, cover with glad wrap and a tea towel and allow to rise for two hours, it should double in size.

  5. Remove from the bowl, cut into 8 pieces if you want standard buns or 20 pieces for sliders.

  6. Gently form them into balls and place on lined oven trays.

  7. Cover with a clean tea towel and leave to rise for another hour.

  8. Combine the Bread Glaze Mix -  egg and water in a small bowl and beat well.

  9. Brush the buns with the egg wash and sprinkle over sesame seeds if using them.

  10. Bake at 180°C for about 15 minutes, turning the tray halfway through
