Over the course of three children, and have learned that they are definitely not created equal.

Hatin’g on Pram #1

My first pram was some random thing my sister-in-law gave me and I wasn’t involved in the choosing at all. It was as impractical as it was ugly, and steering one of those green wheelie bins down the street would have been more practical. I felt obliged to use it, and endured the literal hell-on-wheels until my next child was born.

 

Stuff’n up on Pram #2

So we go to Pram #2. I needed a double pram because baby #2 was due 16 months after the first. So I went and tried a bunch of prams out at the shop, wheeling them around, weaving them in and out of the aisles like a maniac, determining if they were easy to maneuver. I found one that seemed to fit the bill and was ecstatic. What I didn’t know is that once that pram had two real-life children in it, it would be like trying to constantly push around that dodgy shopping trolley at the supermarket with the bung wheel that drives you insane. Not only that, this thing was heavy and hard to get in and out of the car.

Roll’n Backwards on Pram #3

I finally thought I knew what to do. I went back to test-drive prams. This time I loaded them up with all sorts of stuff and wheeled them around to get a good feel of how they “drove” in a scenario that seemed realistic. I found one that was perfect – it drove well and was lightweight to boot!  And then when I had it home I could not for the life of me fold it either up or down. My husband struggled with it too. His solution of “well we’ll just leave it up permanently” was not really practical because, you know, I needed to be able to fold it down to put it in the boot of my car and take it places and then get it working when I got to wherever I was going.

Then I was scared I’d get it up at the shops and wouldn’t be able to get it down again, and it would probably get stolen etc etc….. Not cause I live in a dodgy area, but a free pram, even a crap one, would appeal to someone….

I took that heap of junk back to the retailer and went back to the drawing board. But it wasn’t long before the game-changer arrived. Pram #4, the pram to end all prams – the Bugaboo.

This pram was a dream come true – it ticked every box for what I wanted and needed in a pram. And then do you know what it did? It just kept on ticking boxes I didn’t even know that I wanted to be ticked.

First and foremost, the most important thing to me was complete maneuverability – which the Bugaboo had better than any pram I had ever tried before. You can even steer this baby with one hand and enjoy a coffee while on the go. It works well on just about any terrain and has a four-wheel suspension system. The pram is lightweight, which is next on my list.

And…drumroll… it was a breeze to fold up and down and to get in and out of the car. Not only that, it is perfect from birth to toddler and you can have multiple seat configurations.  Oh and it is stylish too, and not like the daggy monstrosity that was my first pram.

Don’t just take my word for it. Mums everywhere are cray for the Bugaboo… they’ve told us.  We held a competition recently to win a Bugaboo Bee, and mums and mums-to-be love the features I’ve listed and more.
