Are You Getting Enough Iron?

Are You Getting Enough Iron?

It’s not a coincidence that Popeye’s always chowing down on spinach; it’s packed with iron, an essential mineral that helps red blood cells carry oxygen throughout the body, gives you energy, aids in metabolism and promotes a healthy immune system.

So what happens when our bodies are iron deficient?

Short answer:

Lots.

Long answer:

Without adequate stores of iron, your red blood cells can’t transport oxygen to the muscles and other tissues of your body effectively. As a result, you can feel weak, fatigued or experience shortness of breath. Women are especially vulnerable to iron deficiency, partially due to the blood loss we experience during that time of the month.

But here is the annoying part (yes, annoying)..

Iron is actually a very tricky mineral to absorb “”it’s not just about smashing bags of spinach “”many people who eat iron-rich foods still find they’re iron-deficient.

Why is this so?

While many people’s iron intake is just dandy, sometimes the body struggles to actually absorb the stuff. This is where diet comes in, as well as a simple supplement plan, which should include FAB IRON for women. These come in tablets, capsules and liquid form help to maintain healthy iron levels, all while being gentle on the stomach.

Supplements are especially great if you are:

“¢ Tired (even after rest)

“¢ Lacking energy

“¢ Have poor concentration

“¢ Irritability towards people, things

“¢ Get frequent infections

“¢ Are feeling down

What else can you do?

Eat!

High iron foods include clams, liver, sunflower seeds, nuts, beef, lamb, beans, whole grains, kangaroo, dark leafy greens (spinach), dark chocolate, and tofu.

Eat red meat…

The iron in red meat is the most easily absorbed by the body. If you can eat red meat, it’s interesting to know that beef and lamb contains double the iron than in pork, chicken and fish.

But if you’re vegetarian, don’t just rely on leafy greens…

Eating iron-rich foods doesn’t necessarily guarantee that your body is actually absorbing the iron. Taking FAB IRON for women ensures you are getting the right amount of iron needed. You will notice the difference almost immediately.

Also…

Vitamin C can assist your body’s absorption of iron, so have a cup of orange juice or drizzle lemon juice over your meal.

In contrast, drinking a cup of coffee or tea during the meal will actually decrease the amount of iron absorbed by the body.
