The story of the Amityville house has been retold quite a few times in the last decades. It’s inspired by the allegedly haunted house where Ronald “Butch” DeFeo Jr. murdered his family while they were sleeping. The most famous of the retellings is certainly the 1979 The Amityville Horror but fans were drawn in again when the remake hit screens in 2005 starting Ryan Reynolds. Unfortunately, it looks like this new film is going to be pretty much that same retelling, with a new family moving into the house without being aware of its history. Hopefully, it impresses.

8. The Witch

If you’re a witch enthusiast, the upcoming release of The Witch is definitely one to keep an eye out for. The film is set in New England during the 1630s and follows the story of the pre-Salem Witch Trials and the beginnings of witch hysteria. Now, this may not be the film for everyone. The style seems to be more geared towards a slow start that peaks in a disturbingly secret and suspenseful climax, but it will certainly make some witch fans very happy.
