Anne Ramsey had been active in the world of film and television since the 1970s, so The Goonies was just another title to add to her list. Sadly, it would be one of the last films she would be involved in. She was diagnosed with throat cancer in the mid-1980s and had to have parts of her tongue and jaw removed. She didn’t let that stop her, and went on to act in films like Throw Momma from the Train (1987) for which she received an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress. She died in August of 1988.
