Pears are in season right now, and we’re always looking for new ways to make the most of affordable in season produce, which is where this Paleo Pear Crumble comes in.

Pears are a great fruit, and although they are versatile many people just aren’t sure of how to use them. Well there’s more to pears than poaching them!

This recipe makes full use of the delicious flavours of pear along with the warming comfort that all crumbles seem to add to the mix. Plus this recipe gives a little coconut kick that we just love.

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 190 degrees and prepare a dish. We used a casserole dish, but any disk will do. Just grease it with your preferred oil.

  2. In a bowl mix together the almond flour, coconut flour, flax seeds, desiccated coconut, cinnamon and nutmeg. Meanwhile in another bowl whisk together the maple syrup with the melted coconut oil.

  3. Pour the wet mixture on top of the dry mixture and mix well until there are no dry areas left in the mixture.

  4. Lay the diced pears at the bottom of the greased dish and put the crumble mixture on top, patting down with a spoon so its evenly covered all the way around.

  5. Bake in the oven for 30 minutes, or until the crust is nice a crispy and the edges are a little golden.
