Ex-Couple Ask Brutally Honest Questions to Each Other

Break-ups do not always end great and when this ex-couple got the chance to ask brutally honest questions to each other, things just got real.

The And Project, an interactive documentary series like no other, seeks to experience what connects us as people. The project has already had 30 couples in different relationship states to join in and ask each other some really honest questions taken from cue cards. Here, couples face head-on all the good and bad things in their relationship.

Ali and Andrew were not exempted. These two had split up two years ago but they had been dating seven years, since college, prior to that. Their exchange is something many of us who have gone through break-ups will probably want to try out, especially with so many questions left unanswered.

The video of the ex-couple starts off with a question Ali has probably been wanting to ask Andrew for so long:

Why did you cheat on me so many times?

To this an indignant Andrew answered,

I did not cheat on you so many times. I did not … do the act of cheating.

He defended that to say such would make it sound like a “sex addict or something” but eventually, he did admit to Ali that he has had oral sex with another girl because he was “interested in other options”. Ali began to cry and Andrew gave that look that guys often make when he was made a girl upset.

While the whole exchange started out pretty heavy, they did eventually move on to the lighter stuff like:

When you think about the first time we met, what do you remember?

To which the two smiled and shared a few laughs over.

Even better was when Ali asked:

What do you cherish about our time together as a couple?

It was obvious the two did enjoy their time together and that they had things they would definitely not forget about each other. Their seven years weren’t all bad stuff after all and Ali couldn’t help but share one particular pleasant memory she has with Andrew.

”You held me and you danced with me and we stayed up for a long time,” Ali continued.

Andrew sung a line of the song being played then and added in to the memory that probably melted everyone’s hearts even more: “I somehow said something to the effect of ‘I could marry you right now,’ and you said, ‘Well if you proposed I would say yes’. And it was kind of nice that I got to walk away from that and think about that and I just felt so… amazing. Because I saw it, you know?” Both were left with teary eyes during that moment.

Another adorable portion of the exchange was when they asked each other what they would warn each other’s girlfriend or boyfriend about. They told each other off — Ali was “flaky” and Andrew would have to “find a girlfriend that’s gonna laugh at every joke he makes”. Ali added to not let Andrew talk to his ex-girlfriend, which they later realised was exactly what they were doing.

Awkward moment!

But they defended that they were no longer “romantic anymore” which made it an exception.

Later, the cue card read:

Who is at fault for the relationship ending?

Andrew surprised Ali when he told right off that he was to blame for it, one hundred per cent. “Because I made the most mistakes,” he said. “And you always gave me another chance. I think it was all my fault. You deserved a second chance.” Ali said it wasn’t all his — she wasn’t perfect after all. She admitted to kissing someone and confessing it to him right away, just when things were about to end.

We love the last portions of their conversation, when Ali asked Andrew why he hasn’t had a relationship since. Andrew said something many of those who are getting over a break-up would probably agree: their break-up kept him from being ever emotionally ready to commit to anyone else. He hated having to pick up things from Ali’s apartment and taking out Ali’s paintings (of Ali) was like ripping his heart out every time — and teary Andrew admitted not wanting to do and go through that again.

Andrew’s last question was if Ali would ever consider getting back together with him. Ali thought long and hard — and came up with none. They have been through a lot and was not sure if they would still be compatible, especially in bed.

To end it all,

Why do you still want to be friends post break-up?

Without a moment’s hesitation, Andrew answered:

Because I really miss you.

So..much..feels.
