Following the birth of the girls, Kate suffered from polycystic ovary syndrome and underwent fertility treatments to conceive again and boom – six new babies for the family – hence ‘Jon & Kate Plus 8’. The sextuplets, Aeden, Colin, Joel, Alexis, Hannah and Leah were born, also prematurely, at 30 weeks gestation in May 2004.

Nadya Suleman (who now goes by the name Natalie) gave birth to Octuplets in January 2009. The babies were only the second full set of Octuplets to be born alive in the U.S. and the media dubbed her ‘Octomom’ even though she had six other children so really she was more like, ‘Heapsofkidsmum’.

Natalie used IVF to conceive all of her 14 children and, whilst in the spotlight her specialist came under scrutiny, for implanting a staggering 12 embryos, far more than the maximum recommended of two, for a woman her age.
