Mum Writes Powerful Letter About Her Postpartum Body

A mother-of-three has posted a powerful open letter about loving her own postpartum body — scars, stomach and skin.

While most mums feel pressured to bounce back after giving birth, Eliza Curby, 27, from Sydney, has never felt more proud of her body.

Ms Curby took to Instagram to share that she is ‘proud of what my body has done for me’ – scars, excess skin and all. She wrote:

“Just because..
“Because I’m not embarrassed of the scars my body now carries.
“Because I’m proud of what my body has done for me.
“Because many women feel the need to hide it.
“Because famous women post “look at my body just three weeks postpartum” and portray unrealistic images of what it means to be a mother.
“Because I feel beautiful in my own skin – even if there’s alotttt of it!
“Because beauty takes many forms.
“Because I can.
“Because you should also be proud.
“This is me… because I love my body.”

Her post has gained hundreds of likes and has received comments of support from mum who also shared their own stories.

Earlier this year, Ms Curby hogged the headlines, when she learned she was pregnant with identical twin boys – just six weeks after her daughter was born, despite breastfeeding her.

“Breast feeding doesn’t do s***, this pregnancy happened, it is real,” she told Daily Mail Australia at the time. “My doctor actually uses me as an example for couples when they say they don’t have any contraception plans in place after the birth of their child.”

Ms Curbey documents her experiences of motherhood through her blog, Twingenuity.
