8 Year Old Diagnosed With Breast Cancer

“I never would have imagined that we would be going through something like this with one of our babies.” Annette Turner

To say that Annette and Troy Turner from Utah, USA, have been through hell and back would be an understatement. A series of tests on their daughter Chrissy confirmed an incomprehensible result.

Their 8 year old daughter who is in third grade has been diagnosed with breast cancer and will undergo a mastectomy, all while exuding a humbling positive attitude “…she’s got the wit of someone far beyond her age,” describes her mother.

“It was about the middle of October she came to us with a lump on her chest and was scared,” Troy Turner said.

“It is a very rare form of breast cancer,” Annette said. “It’s called Secretory Carcinoma. Only 1 in one million are diagnosed and she is the youngest that they’ve run acrossed having this particular type of breast cancer…I broke down. It’s a struggle every day worrying about my family, about my husband and now my baby girl.”

“She was our therapy when he was going through chemotherapy,” Annette said.

Chrissy and her parents know that she has a difficult battle ahead of her. It will start at the Huntsman Cancer Institute where she will undergo a mastectomy.

“I was scared the first time that I knew about it,” Chrissy said. “But I knew that I could fight it off and I hope that I can fight it off.”

“You can do this,” Annette assures her.

Family friends have launched a Go Fund Me campaign to raise money for Chrissy’s medical bills. The family had to file for bankruptcy in 2013 after the financial strain of their own battles with the horrific disease.

“We’re just going to keep fighting,” Annette said. “Doing everything we can to smile every day and laugh every dayand carry our head high and do our best to overcome this.”
