Eggs have long been demonised as a baby food, and many parents avoid them. But the truth is that as long as they are fully cooked, and your child is not at risk of an egg allergy, they’re a great food for babies. Try them scrambled, or even hard boiled and mashed with some breastmilk until they’re a good consistency. As babies grow, you can offer them sliced hard boiled eggs or even omelette strips!

4. Berries

Berries are full of colour, but not so sweet that they’ll make your child into a sugar addict, which makes them a great choice for babies before they turn one. Brightly coloured and generally quite soft, berries are easy to eat and simple to incorporate into meals. Just chop them very small and serve as is, or blend them into a puree that you can spread on other foods, or eat with a spoon.
